Welcome!
I am Qarinah Alkhatib, a recent graduate of University of Hertfordshire's BA (Hons) 3D Animation & Visual Effects course, and currently seeking my first production role in the industry.
Having studied 3D Animation and Visual Effects in both my diploma and degree courses, I have a strong understanding of the 3D pipeline and workflow, and so am very familiar with the different disciplines and processes within it. I also have a strong traditional and digital 2D foundation, having taken Art as an GCSE 'O'-Levels subject in secondary school. I have also undertaken multiple organisational roles throughout my educational years, ranging from project leads and club presidencies to volunteer management internships.
Comics have always been a passion of mine and I have been writing and illustrating my own comic under the mentorship of Mr Johnny Lau, author of Mr Kiasu comics, with the goal to be published in 2026.
I am passionate about storytelling, and I strive in the future to be able to help others tell their stories as well.
Latest Project
EYE OF THE SUN
is my final degree project, submitted to the University of Hertfordshire as partial requirement for the BA (Hons) 3D Animation and Visual Effects.
This video showcases a teaser trailer for the film.
I worked as a director and groom artist on the project, leading a core team of 7 other students and 11 freelancers. I also assisted with various other roles throughout production, including lighting, compositing, rendering and technical troubleshooting.
The film itself is an homage to the Egyptian legend of Sekhmet, the personification of the sun god Ra's rage. We intended to explore and expand Sekhmet's side of the legend, focussing on her autonomy and the nuanced emotions she would have felt rebelling against her father.
